Hello.

The Women’s Prize for Playwriting is the leading award for female and non-binary playwrights in the UK and Ireland.

About the prize

The Women’s Prize for Playwriting was founded in 2019 to discover bold, expansive and beautifully crafted plays by women and non-binary writers in the UK and Ireland.

Founded to redress the balance of voices reaching our main stages, the Prize is open to and champions the best new plays from writers of all levels of experience. We want to read plays that push theatrical boundaries, open our eyes to new ways of seeing the world and make our imaginations soar.

The Prize has been created to allow you to write the stories you want freely and without limitation. The extraordinary range of plays we have read since our inception from writers at every level of experience only fuels our belief that this Prize is intrinsic to the theatrical landscape. We look forward to reading your work!

With grateful thanks to The Eggardon Trust
